Jakarta – The Indonesian government has begun distributing the 13th salary for civil servant retirees (PNS) and military/police pensioners (TNI/Polri) ahead of the year-end holidays. This additional payment aims to ease financial burdens and support retirees during the festive season.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the funds have been transferred to the respective pension accounts, ensuring timely access. The 12th salary, equivalent to one month’s pension, is part of the government’s welfare commitment to over 3.5 million retirees nationwide.
Retirees expressed relief, citing rising living costs amid inflation. "This extra payment helps cover holiday expenses and medical needs," said Siti Rahayu, a former teacher from Bandung. Similar sentiments were echoed by retiree groups across social media.
Critics, however, urge the government to regularly evaluate pension values against inflation. While the 12th salary provides short-term relief, long-term adjustments are needed to maintain retirees’ purchasing power, economists suggest.
The disbursement is expected to boost local economies as retirees spend on family gatherings and necessities. The government assures that future pension policies will prioritize retirees’ welfare amid economic challenges.
