A Grand Celebration of Education
Held on Friday (2/5/2025), the mass dance was organized by the Batu City Education Office, directed by Winarto Ekram from Malang Dance, with choreography by Winarto Ekram, assisted by Pundhi and Agus M from Sanggar Karsa Budaya Batu, as well as Salma Nindia from Sanggar Belang Telon Batu. The music composer was Agus Iphoenk Purwanto.
Symbolism of Struggle and Devotion
"Sang Wiyata Bhakti, meaning 'Devoted to Knowledge,' tells the journey and struggle of teachers, students, and all education figures who strive to illuminate the nation with knowledge despite limitations. The movements, costumes, and music symbolize noble values such as perseverance, sincerity, and communal spirit," explained Winarto.
He added that the dance carries a message urging all societal elements, especially policymakers, to prioritize education.
A Call for Quality and Humanist Education
The Sang Wiyata Bhakti dance serves as a reminder that national progress depends on meaningful, humane, and quality education. It is a gift from Batu City’s students to their beloved nation and region.
"Wiyata means education, bhakti means devotion. It’s time we give our best for the future of Batu’s education," he emphasized.

Batu City Mayor Nurochman expressed deep appreciation for the students' performance and reaffirmed his commitment to improving education quality in Batu.
"This dance is not only visually stunning but also rich in meaning. It is an extraordinary tribute from students to the world of education and to us, the Batu City Government. We are deeply moved and proud," he stated.
