Participants, dressed in traditional Javanese attire, carried gunungan (offerings of agricultural produce) and were joined by reog performers, a traditional lion dance. The event also featured four martial arts groups—PSHT, PSHW, IKSPI, and Pagar Nusa—alongside students and modern art communities, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Village head Warno emphasized the event’s deeper significance. “This is not just entertainment but a way to preserve cultural and religious values,” he said. “We aim to show that ancestral traditions, Islamic teachings, and modern culture can coexist harmoniously.”
The festival, held to commemorate the village’s founding during the Javanese month of Suro, included a series of events: Baritan, Napak Tilas Satria Ngatas Angin, a Reog festival, Kirab Pusaka, Jamasan Pusaka (ritual cleansing of heirlooms), Nyadran, the Kirab Budaya parade, and a people’s bazaar and arts festival. These activities united residents of all ages, from children to elders.
Local representative Aris Trio praised the event for its fusion of values. “Javanese culture teaches etiquette, Islam provides a moral foundation, and modernity demands creativity. These should not clash but unite,” he said. Aris added that the festival strengthens community bonds and hopes it inspires participation from neighboring areas, with groups showcasing their best choreography.
The Kirab Budaya stands as a vibrant example of how local traditions can thrive alongside religious and contemporary influences, reinforcing Nganjuk’s cultural and spiritual identity.
