Gresik Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani praised the initiative, led by young entrepreneur Shubkhi Basyar, owner of PT ABA. "This is a commendable step. Shubkhi has created an innovative SME product—animal feed for cattle made from cocoa waste," Yani said. He highlighted the creativity of local youth in tapping into global markets amid challenging international conditions, noting that ABA previously exported similar waste-based products, like burnt rice husks, to Japan last year.
Yani expressed hope that more SMEs would explore the economic potential of waste-based products for export markets, supported by Gresik Customs Office facilities. "With clear formulas and established markets, we hope to see more such initiatives," he added.
Shubkhi Basyar, Director of PT ABA, emphasized the strong demand for the cocoa waste-based animal feed. "Malaysia alone requires 300 tons per month. We’re also in talks with Australia for an additional 200 to 300 tons monthly," he said, underscoring the growing international interest in their product.
