Indonesian Entertainment Mourns Sudden Passing of Comedian and Musician Gusti Irwan Wibowo (gustiwiw)

Bandung, Indonesia – The Indonesian entertainment industry is in mourning following the sudden death of comedian, musician, and producer Gusti Irwan Wibowo, popularly known as Gustiwiw, on Sunday, June 15, 2025. The 45-year-old passed away at a lodging in Maribaya, Lembang, Bandung, with no prior reported health issues. His body was laid to rest later that day at Jatisari 2 Public Cemetery in Bekasi.

Gustiwiw’s mother, Sri Yulianti, expressed her grief but accepted her son’s passing as God’s will. “It’s fate, but as a mother, it’s natural to feel this loss. This is the best for Gusti. May his grave be spacious,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. Sri initially struggled to accept the news, even after a doctor informed her that Gusti had collapsed in the bathroom. “It was so sudden. I didn’t believe it when I got the call around 7 a.m. Even during the video call with the doctor, I didn’t cry. I kept hoping for a miracle,” she shared. However, upon seeing her son’s body at the hospital, she broke down in tears.

According to a friend, Gustiwiw, known for his song Cantikmu Bijaksana, had complained of dizziness before the incident. Medical assessments suggested possible hypertension and heart issues prior to his collapse. 

Cimahi Police Public Relations Officer, Iptu Gofur Supangkat, confirmed that authorities received a report of an unresponsive guest at a lodging on Sunday morning. “Our officers from Lembang Police Station were informed around 6 a.m. and confirmed that the individual, Gusti Irwan Wibowo, was found deceased,” Gofur told detikJabar. 

A close friend staying with Gustiwiw since Saturday evening reported that he entered the bathroom around 2 a.m. and did not emerge after an hour. Despite attempts to call out to him, there was no response. The lodging’s security was alerted, and at 6 a.m., they broke open the locked bathroom door, where Gustiwiw was found lifeless on the floor.

The sudden loss of Gustiwiw has left fans and colleagues in shock, as the multi-talented artist was known for his vibrant contributions to Indonesian comedy and music.
