Volcanic Eruption in Indonesia Disrupts Flights at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport

Denpasar, Bali – The eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday night (June 17, 2025), has led to the cancellation of dozens of domestic and international flights to and from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. Popular routes to Singapore and Australia were among those affected.

According to Wahyudi, Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, a total of 12 international departures and five domestic departures were canceled due to the volcanic activity. The affected international routes included Singapore (3 flights), Melbourne (2), Brisbane (2), Adelaide (1), Sydney (1), Pudong (1), Auckland (1), and Delhi (1). The canceled domestic departures comprised four flights to Labuan Bajo and one from Semarang.

As of Wednesday morning (June 18, 2025), 13 international arrivals and two domestic arrivals were also canceled. The international arrivals impacted were from Melbourne (3 flights), Brisbane (2), and one each from Singapore, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Darwin, Shanghai, Auckland, and Delhi. The two canceled domestic arrivals were from Labuan Bajo.

Wahyudi stated that airlines are offering affected passengers options for refunds, rescheduling, or rerouting to mitigate the disruption caused by this natural event.
