Rokhmad highlighted that the overlap of the Islamic New Year and school holidays led to a notable increase in passenger numbers across the Daop 7 Madiun region, including Blitar. The surge was particularly pronounced for long-distance train services, with Sunday, June 29, marking the peak day for departures. Regionally, PT KAI recorded 36,556 passengers departing on long-distance trains and 38,363 arrivals at stations under Daop 7 Madiun’s jurisdiction during the four-day period.

“The most significant increase was observed in long-distance train departures, driven by the combined effect of the Islamic New Year and school holidays,” Rokhmad stated on Tuesday. He noted that the holiday period created a unique opportunity for families and individuals to travel, contributing to the elevated passenger volumes. The convenience and reliability of train services likely played a key role in attracting travelers during this busy season.

PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun is continuing to monitor passenger trends, particularly at Blitar Station, as the school holiday extends for another two weeks. Rokhmad emphasized that the ongoing data collection will help assess the full scope of the passenger surge and inform future operational planning. The extended holiday period is expected to sustain higher-than-usual passenger numbers, especially for those traveling to visit family or explore tourist destinations.

This spike in train usage underscores the importance of rail transport during peak holiday seasons in Indonesia. PT KAI remains committed to accommodating the increased demand by ensuring adequate train schedules and services. As the school holiday continues, Blitar Station and other regional hubs are likely to see sustained passenger traffic, reinforcing the critical role of rail infrastructure in supporting holiday travel.
